The Talisman of Serusier; a prophecy of colour at the Orsay Museum

Until April 28th, 2019 the Musée d'Orsay invites you to discover a temporary exhibition focussing on The Talisman, the famous 1888 painting by Paul Sérusier. For the occasion, the Orsay has gathered around this iconic work more than sixty masterpieces highlighting a pure and abstract style of painting that plays with the conventions of colour. Other famous paintings such as Serusier’s Cercle Chromatique, Gaugin’s Seascape with Cow and Bonnard’s Les Voiliers, régates are displayed in this exciting exhibition.

A Victor Vasarely retrospective; Op Art at the Pompidou Centre

Until May 6th, 2019 the Pompidou Centre presents an exhibition dedicated to Victor Vasarely, the father of Op Art and one of the leading artists of the 70s. The Hungarian-French artistic pioneer used a systematic and almost scientific manipulation of geometric shapes and colours to create amazing optical illusions. Some of the 430 original works and 20,000 paintings and sketches created by the prolific Vasarely await you in this eye-baffling exhibition.

Calder and Picasso at the Picasso Museum

At the Picasso Museum you can immerse yourself in the heart of modern art with an exhibition dedicated to two leading artists of the 20th century; Alexander Calder, an American sculptor famous for his mobiles and stabiles, and Pablo Picasso, the multi-faceted Spanish genius. From February 19th to August 25th, 2019, Picasso shares the spotlight with Calder via more than 150 works exploring the use of negative space. An enlightening look at the similarities and differences of two major creators.
