The Cinémathèque Française is open to film fans everywhere

A true Parisian institution, the Cinémathèque Française, home of some of the great treasures of cinema, is the essential location for all lovers of the seventh art. Scorsese exhibition until February 14th 

‘Taxi Driver,’ ‘Raging Bull, ‘Goodfellas’ or more recently ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ are cinematic masterpieces with a common denominator; the director who crafted their distinctive styles. Martin Scorsese is one of the great masters of modern cinema. His talent was recognised in France at an early date, and the exhibition dedicated to him at the Cinémathèque Française uncovers a little more of the deep bond between the New York director and the French public. Running until February 14th, this extensive and revealing exhibition draws on items from Scorsese’s personal archives and includes storyboards, posters, costumes, photographs and more. This is a golden opportunity to discover or rediscover the filmography of the brilliant American filmmaker, his major influences and his contribution to cinema. Open Monday to Sunday (except Tuesday), the Cinémathèque Française will transport you into the universe of the director who brought Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel and Joe Pesci into the spotlight.

Script continuity: exploring an often overlooked profession 

Until June 23rd 2016, the Cinémathèque Française invites you to discover a film production element that is often underrated but nonetheless essential; the continuity person. Often associated with female figures, this is an invaluable position. Thanks to their vigilance, this person ensures the overall coherence of the film. To discover this art, the Cinémathèque Française archives have been examined to bring forth many of these unsung professionals and offers an enlightening look at their work.

In 2016 the Cinémathèque Française will also be offering retrospectives dealing with Im Kwon-taek (until February 29th) and Gerard Depardieu (until February 27th). Great opportunities to perfect your understanding of movie culture and cinematic art.
